I am quite familiar with the north of Thailand and it's problems as well as it's charms. On my next visit I will do my best to visit Prah Khru Bah at his monastery.

Thank You Phra Kruh Bah Khun Mae Ead and Mark Verkerk!!!! Wow!! Truly The Most Inspirational Real Life story I have had the privilege to view. I am now raising funds, selling things I don't need and thinking of other ways I can help These most amazing humanitarian people. I was planning on doing something in Thailand in the future a land I may be calling home. But why put off to the future what you can do today:} Hope to meet Phrah Kruh Bah and Khun Mae Ead in January 2011 as I will be there in person to donate all I can. Regards Craig & Sukanya

I am a mother of 5 and was so content in my western life until I saw this film. I find myself thinking about the boys every day. They touched my heart and I am inspired by their stories. Thankyou to Khru Bah and khun mae ead for work they do.. I hope to meet both of them and some of the boys in person one day.

Received the DVD in the mail yesterday. Wonderful documentary!
May I suggest that you make the price of the DVD as now, but with an option to pay even more on top of the payment for the DVD as a support to Khru Bah's projects?

I was given the double DVD set for Christmas and this is a wonderful film that I will recommend and show to many other friends and colleagues.
I've spent a lot of time in Thailand's Isan Province and plan to move there permanently to work with many of the families there that live under the same conditions of poverty. Thank you for introducing us to the young novices, Suk, Yee and Boontam and telling their stories. Phra Khru Bah and Khun Ead are brave and caring people that we all can learn from.
Everyone can find peace and happiness

This documentary shows us that we don't need material things to satisfy us. All we need is our mind to create peace and happiness inside and out. We are human beings that need to know the Truth and cultivate goodness, loving-kindness, compassion, and wisdom. I hope this documentary can awake people to find their own peace. When people attained peace, the country will too.

Great that you won so many awards, but I'm wondering what is the status of the Golden Horse Temple now, (09/2009) You did not put links to any collaborating organizations on your website. Did the school for girls ever get built?

Thank you so so much for this beautiful, moving, heartwarming and profoundly inspiring movie! The humble proof of showing that all beings when given love and care, flower...I was in awe to see the change from the sad little guys to openhearted smiling little warriors:). And the scenes with the horse which was cared for so gently, it was just so human, warm and delicate. THANK YOU!

OK, tough love:
1) I thought the behaviour of Phra Khru Bah, beating up a teenager in the conflict about the renovation of a temple, was pretty shocking for a monk. What was really going on there? The film completely glitches over the reasons of both sides for their behaviour.
2) Often, the children looked not happy, and sometimes rather frightened, eg. in the kickboxing training scene.
3) I often wondered why there were so few direct interviews of the children and of the village people themselves. The film was telling about these people, showing them, but not really making contact with them. Why?
4) Sister Khun Mae Ead is introduced as a buddhist nun, yet in view of her dresses, her decoration and her hairstyle she looks just like a non-ordained person? What is that all about?

Many thanks for making such a beautiful & up lifting film. I was deeply touched by Phra Khru Bah's compassion & love for the children, by the beauty & trust of the children, and by Khun Ead's strength & enduring motherly love. I can't wait to share it with others. Thanks to my friend Dylan who introduced it to me...An amazing journey it truly is.

Quite Simply an Inspiration! Watching this video has helped me see a way to live lve as buddhist in even the roughtest of conditions. Abbot Phra Kru Ba is amazing at his work, all with him have a hard journey ahead, I wish them long life and happiness.

One of the best documentaries you're ever likely to see. It follows a group of novice Buddhist monks and their leader through the rugged border regions of Thailand and Myanmar. The photography is superb, the film maker delivers an incredible message of hope and inspiration through stunning images, letting the Thai and Burmese speak for themselves. I was blown away and will hire it to watch all over again.
Take your kids to see this one for sure!

Excellent documentary about a man, Phra Kru Ba Neua Chai, that used to be a professional Thai kick boxer, but did not find the career rewarding and became a Thai Buddhist monk instead. You can see the confidence grow within these boys in a very short window of time and it is a beautiful experience to witness. The stories that unfold in this documentary are heart warming and honest. A great must see film.
Inspirational documentary about the hardship of survival
Gordon-11
Hong Kong
The film is full of love and care. I think this documentary is inspirational. It portrays how life is like when every day is a struggle for survival. It tells me how life is in other parts of the world, where people are not as materialistic. It is a part of the world and a culture which I am unlikely to be able to experience first hand. Though the film is a bit slow, it is worth the watch!
Prachtige, integer gemaakte documentaire
Netherlands

Heel integere film. Leven in alle eenvoud, wat staan wij daar in het Westen heel ver vandaan. Een echte aanrader voor iedereen.
A warm and positive film about 'tough love'
medusastone

This documentary was clearly made with a lot of love, the same amount of love Phra Khru Ba gives to the children in his monastery. Mark Verkerk keeps a certain distance and no judgments about the things that happen in front of the camera. He's just there to record the special energy that surrounds the monk and his positive deeds. Truly a sweet, positive movie with beautiful images and a life-lesson that isn't cliché but gives you the urge to become a better person.
